POND & LIGHTING REPAIR
Having Pond Lighting Issues? We Can Help!
Moisture Inside The Fixture Is Usually The Issue With Your Lights
Moisture In The Light, Moisture In The Connection
There are many factors that first need to be addressed when trying to diagnose why your water feature lights are not working. First thing is to obviously check the bulb, if you have halogen style lights it should be easy to tell if the bulb is blown. If the bulb is good, moisture is the next thing to look for when your light suddenly stops working.
With plastic halogen style lights, heat is the main issue that will eventually make your light fail. The plastic heats up when the light is on, and when it cools it draws in moisture. The older the light, the more likely the rubber gasket it worn, allowing the light to ultimately leak.
WIRE CONNECTIONS CAN BE A SOURCE OF YOUR LIGHTING ISSUES ALSO.
Make Sure Your Connections Are Water Tight
Can I Fix My Non-Working Lights?
You Have A 50/50 Chance, In Our Opinion, Refer To “Murphy”
If you start poking around and can’t see any physical issues with the light itself, the electrical system is the next thing to diagnose. If all of your lights are out, start at the transformer, moisture will eventually turn to corrosion, and either the internals of the transformer, or the light connections would be the culprit. Check the screws at the bottom of the transformer first. Rusty screw connections will be the issue on cheaper style transformers, that offer little weatherproofing.
If the connections look good, the transformer works, and the bulbs are good, follow the wire from the light to the connection to the main power-line. Make sure rodents didn’t chew on the power wire in any spots ( yes this does happen )., and inspect the wire at the connection. Loosen wire nuts and expose the copper wire splice, if the wire looks burnt or black it may need to be replaced.
